Blog – Week 2

This week, the FeelsBot team spent much of their time brainstorming together about possible concepts as well as working on individual projects.

Brian refreshed his basic knowledge of Unreal by building a quick demo level for one of the team’s concepts involving a space miner.

Justin spent much of the week learning about Unreal as well. As the team’s tech lead, he focused on a Udemy course in order to get up to speed on the ins and outs of Unreal Engine.

Ross created concept art for the team’s space miner concept and refreshed his knowledge of Maya.

The team spent most of their time together brainstorming their ideas and pitching to Erin and Carl in order to get pertinent feedback. After pitching several of our concepts, the team decided to pivot from the space miner concept for the time being and work on a new idea centering around a paranormal detective. This concepts would rely on environmental storytelling.

Next week, we hope to further flesh out our concept and prototype some basic gameplay mechanics in-engine. Our goal is to find the fun and find what makes the best use of VR as a medium before we get too deep in developing our story.
