Week 8 Newsletter

Week 8 (3/3 ~ 3/7)

Week 8 was productive

On Monday our team got together to plan our next sprint. Because we all knew that spring break and GDC week was approaching and the Halves week after that, we decided to discuss the following; Finals goals, Halves and lastly our Sprint. Although it was a long meeting compared to our scrum meetings, at the end, we were all able to come down to a stronger understanding of our goals.

We shared our goals and plans with our advisors and clients. Receiving feedback regarding; scope size, other options, play testing definitely helped us prioritize our back log.

Because we planned to have our playtest this Friday, the entire team was very productive. Compared to the previous sprints, we were definitely the most productive this week. With this energy we should be able to hit our targeted goal.

We conducted our Playtest on Friday with fellow ETC class mate and faculty. It seems that majority of people loved the effects of crashes against trees and houses. As a team we saw feedback that we expected and things that were new to us.

CHALLENGES:

One of the main struggles we are still dragging is on the tech side where we are still without the actual controls. We originally planned on having it in our hand by the end of this week but this will unfortunately bleed into our next sprint. When we gain access to the controls, we will be able to playtest and figure out in depth if we are missing anything.

NEXT WEEK/SPRINT:

Next week is spring break and GDC week. Right after that will be Halves. Because most of us will be attending the GDC, we need to plan ahead and decide strongly on what needs to be done in preparation for Halves.

Hopefully by the end of Halves we will receive more information from our client about the whereabouts of controls! We were very productive and we will keep the ball rolling!
