Week 3 Newsletter

In this week of team Halolands, the team drew ghosts on brainstorm board. Movie ‘Split’ made our lead programmer cry in the theater. The new website, new poster, new logo, and promotion half sheet are done. And before you know it, prototypes are coming next week.

Before building our thrilling experience using Hololens, we need to design it first. This Wednesday, we took a team meeting and big chunk of time to discuss the design. We knew that the design will iterate a lot of times, so we come to a conclusion that we should start from the rule of game design, and fill out the spaces of player’s goal chart while developing the experience.

The chart mainly focused on player’s starting position, the goal of the experience, the rules, and limitations when they are going through.

Adding to the game design graph, we are putting metrics of success to our experience. We value the requirements of clients, and we extremely hope that this experience would be effective and leaves a lingering feeling even after players take off the Hololens. We noticed our disadvantages in designing some art assets and sound effects. Although they are very important components of the experience, we are outsourcing them and the standard is that these assets just need to be effective instead of aesthetic appealing.

For research, the team went to see a thrilling movie together. The movie is called ‘Split’, it’s about how multi-personalities symptom can not only affect a person’s behaviors but also can change the physical body. We learned some dramatic ways of expressing scaring scenes to the audience and hope to add them to our experience.

Promotion materials are all ready before final release. Everything looks sleek.

Next week, we’ll be working on more designing details and prototyping some key features of the experience.
