Week 6

This week, we had quarters sit down and had a few faculty visit our project to try out the most recent prototype. We received valuable feedback on how to make our experience more engaging and personal. One of the feedback we are considering to implement to our experience is, building a gradual increase of comfort level by starting the experience in a less personal space ( ex. living room) and moving into a more personal space( ex. bedroom). In terms of […]

Week 5

This week was quarters and our team had our walkarounds on Monday. Faculty in ETC came to our project room for 15minutes and gave us feedback on our current prototype and the direction that we are heading. There were a lot of good feedback which addresses our struggles. Next week, we will have our quarter sitdown and a faculty member will be visiting our room to actually try our most current prototype. Story survey This week we sent out a survey […]

Week 4

This week we again had a paper playtest and a digital playtest. Our goals were to try and narrow down which story we are going with and to see how we can make the interactions more meaningful.   Story/Paper playtest Playtesters were asked to listen to four stories and give their feedback. We tried to ask for it in an indirect way by saying “what would her friend say to her”. The stories are at the end of this post. […]

Week 3

In week 3 we combined the digital and paper prototypes into one. We’ve made changes to the story and chose more personal objects that are less generic. For example, a teddy bear from the character’s childhood instead of a textbook. We also tried to include more of the character’s hopes and dreams in the story based on feedback from previous playtest.   The playtest: Setting: Player is sitting in a room in front of a desk that contains eight objects […]

Week 2

This week we had two different types of playtest: playtesting the story and playtesting interactions. Story playtest Playtest description: Playtesters were told to choose one of three names (Liz, Sarah, Alison). They placed a posed it with said name on themselves. They were asked to wait while the room was set up: the bills envelope and the pregnancy test both had the character’s name on it. The right enveloped were put in place. They entered the room and sat down. […]

Week 1

The semester has started and this week we were off to a good start. In order to have enough time to have multiple iterations, the team decided to do as many playtest, as early as possible. Since this is a student pitch project, we already made several design decisions before the semester started. We based our design on Geoff Kaufman’s research on perspective taking. in his research he suggests that if a user reads a first person account of events, they […]
