[Week 3] Development Blog: LOCKING ON THE IDEA

After Week 2, we were feeling pretty confident about our idea, so we decided to go with it.

Week 3 started with our client meeting. Since we had quarters coming up next week, they told us to just relax and explain our idea to them from a perspective of someone who knows nothing about the project but the initial description, which was a little tricky to do since we have been dived into this for two weeks.

Majority of our Week 3 was spent on production design materials. We finalized our logo, our project description, our project tagline, our game title, our game tagline. We also finished our first draft of project poster and half sheet.

We did not have a client meeting in our third week as we had nothing concrete to show them. We were still heavily brainstorming on our core loop, and we ended up making a draft of our core loop. We wanted to make sure that in our core loop, the central piece of information was the Census data that tied all of the components together.

We realized that in a functioning society, the three main pillars for welfare are Health, Education and Infrastructure, so we decided to use them, with Budget as our currency to spend on these factors. We realized that Population would also be a major variable factor in our game, and everything is dependent on it, which worked in our way, since we wanted Census to be the core of our game.

On the other hand, our programmers were working on a simple prototype so that we can ease into production once our design was ready. We made a calendar to keep track of all the important dates.
