Week 5 Newsletter

Week 5 (2/10 ~ 2/14)

Week 5 was SLOW

On Monday we started by doing our end Scrum and moved right into our first Retrospective where we all put our thoughts and feelings on three things; 1. What went well this sprint, 2. What didn’t go so well this sprint, and finally 3. How can we fix it? This was a great exercise and the results were very inspiring. At the end of our 2nd sprint, we will look back on the things we discussed and hopefully we as a team, made improvements!

After our Retrospective we moved into our new 2 week sprint. Our sprint goal is to create all of the necessary parts for a basic gameplay. With 3 high level overview of a single track design, first car model and a linear gameplay/race we would like to create a strong base we can work on.

We also decided to implement a weekly art review on Wednesday, and a weekly tech review on Monday. Right after the tech review, we would like to send EA our latest build for them to play with and on our Wednesday meeting; we will receive necessary feedback to adjust our footing.

We finally spent some of the decoration money and bought a canopy for our artist, Fiona. It’s a big leaf shape and it supposedly blocks the glare on her cintique. We also ordered some race car flags that will decorate a part of the wall as a DONE section where all of the accomplished tasks will reside. Hopefully we will come up with even more creative decoration ideas.

CHALLENGES:

This week, we had Quarter Walk around on Wednesday we had to prepare for, which killed our Tuesday. We were able to get some things done but we still have 75% of the cake left and only a week to finish it.

NEXT WEEK:

Starting next week, we would like to really get the ball rolling for we have a lot of things that needs to be done and the first half of sprint is already gone!
