Lazer Mouse

Week 4

Art!

Sahana and Regis finalized our half-sheet and poster designs.

Research!

We started to make researches about current drawing applications on iPad. We received a Mac mini and Atulit is working on publishing on iPad.

Brainstorming to Prototyping!

We split into two teams to prototype our two ideas: Atulit, Sahana, Akshaya will be working on Spore-like Splines (Bendy Lines) idea where Regis, Dilara, Sangyun will be working on TocaBoca Style idea during the 4th and 5th week.

Meeting with Anthony Daniels!

On Thursday afternoon, we had a meeting with Anthony Daniels. We presented him our project and got extremely helpful feedback. He took the role of a 6-year old kid who wants to build a rocket ship. It was pretty hard to explain things without using any technical words. We practiced over and over in order to describe the story in a language that a 5-6 year old can understand easily. We changed the name of Spore-like Splines to Bendy Lines in order to be more clear.

Meeting with the Client!

We had a Skype meeting with Rebecca, Christian and Adam this week. We talked about the project direction, our decision of prototyping. We also shared our half-sheet and poster design.

We went to the museum on Thursday evening for a special event for adults, MAKEnight. It was nice to see that there is no difference between adults and kids in CMP environment. Everything is pretty interesting for everyone.

Some of us could find the opportunity to visit the museum on the weekend. We have observed the kids with their parents rather than grandparents or caretakers as in weekdays.

MAKEnight @ Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

PhotoGrid_1360353509787On February 7th, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh held an adult event called MAKEnight. PhotoGrid_1360353641205We had the opportunity to attend to this exciting night. In MAKESHOP section, we learned the process of felting and built & raced mini-derby cars. In Art Studio section, we designed the boxes cut in the die-cutter, made bath bombs and used silk screen printing to print images on fabric.

It was great to play in this environment and observe the grown-up kids fulfilling their dreams.

Next Week!

  • We’ll be having our ¼ Walk-arounds on Friday.
  • Full power prototyping!
