Overview of the Week
This week’s keyword – Presentation!
This is a very busy week. We made our demo and gave our half presentation to some ETC alumi and EA employees.
We discovered that although our mesh analysis is very fast but the accuracy couldn’t meet our needs. We tried several ways to improve the accuracy of the algorithm. Unfortunately, if we implement our algorithm based on SculptGL data structure, it is hard to slice the 3D model in a very precise way. However, the good part is that we discovered this fact before it is too late. After half, we will be working on designing a new algorithm to meet our standard.

Explaining demo to our guests
This Friday we gave a 15-minute presentation to some EA employees and ETC alumni. The presentation was successful, and we got a lot of useful feedback from them like how we can make our project more interactive by enabling the realtime editing on the 3D object.
Also for the demo, we implemented some basic visuals like a plane indicator to where the music is along playing. However, we may adjust our visual if we adopt a new mesh analysis algorithm.

In this demo, we have implemented our user interface. Now users can upload their model and use the tools we provided to modify the uploaded model. Once the users hit the play button, the platform will generate a music for them.
Challenges
We are facing a big technical challenge – mesh analysis. Since we are not content with SculptGL, we need to design our own mesh analysis algorithm. This is a huge task, but it is necessary.
Since we are switching our mesh analysis algorithm, we need to adjust our visual effects a little bit due to the performance issue. We want to make our web platform as responsive as it can be.
Schedule for Next Week
Discuss all the feedback from half presentation.
New mesh analysis algorithm.
Tweak and implementation of the visuals.
