From an early age, Charles has been interested in both technology and storytelling. Even while attending Carnegie Mellon University as an undergraduate, Charles pursued both areas of study and earned two degrees in four years a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing (with a minor in Photography and Film) and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.
While an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon, Charles had the opportunity to attend a Building Virtual Worlds show in which two friends were presenting worlds they had created. That afternoon opened up his eyes to the exciting possibilities for combining technology and storytelling to produce not only remarkable technical simulations but also immersive worlds endowed with engaging narratives.
Charles arrived at the Entertainment Technology Center in the fall of 2006 to pursue his dream of developing his storytelling craft in these new and varied media. In his first semester at the ETC Charles has already been able to act as producer for small teams and to help create narratives for virtual experiences in the ETC's Building Virtual Worlds class.
