Newsletter 10 : Week 10

Last week for team Illusions was pretty good. There were couple of things that took place.

  • We created a new prototype

  • Conducted a play test
  • Anthony and Shirley came to visit.

So, we started the week by creating a new prototype. Last week, I had mentioned that, we were planning to use only one marker rather than 2 markers at a time. Also, change the game map such that the players are standing across each other.We made these changes. Apart from doing all this, we made a co-operative mode of the game, where players have to communicate with each other and play the game to defeat the AI.  We also added a new interaction where in if the player looks at the glowing part of the bridge, it would create a hole there. This would enable the opponent’s minion to fall down.

We conducted a play test on Friday, 27th March. Our main goal was to see if the players enjoyed cooperative mode of the game and if they felt, picking one minion at a time was more convenient than picking 3 at a time. From the play test, we concluded that we would concentrate more on getting the ‘vs’ mode polished and later add in the co operative mode.

 Anthony and Shirley visited SV and tried our game. We got valuable feedback from both of them.

So, this week, we are going to concentrate on adding in more interactions to the game, re-design the environment, game map, get in the models, start animating the models. Our next build would have 3 more interaction, 2 new models, animation on 1 of the models and initial version of the game map.
