Newsletter 9: Week 9

Date : 20th February,2015

The team was out for a long 2 weeks: 1 week for Game Developers Conference and 2 week for Spring Break. So, there was not much significant progress in those weeks. But, we are back to get things started and work our way towards the softs and finals.

The team did meet during the spring break for 1 day to discuss the further schedules and start preparing for the halves presentation the following week. So, Team Illusions had halves presentations last week and they went pretty decent. We had John Dessler and couple others play-testing the game.

We got a lot of valuable feedback from the halves presentation and the play test two weeks ago. Taking into account all the feedback, the team sat together to make some design changes. We changed the analogy from Red-Blue-Green to Fire-Water-Wood, which is more easier to understand and relate to.

We are making a new prototype using the same game idea, but using just one marker than two different markers. We are going to try both ‘vs’ and ‘co-operative’ mode to see which one works the best in this week. We are also changing the game world to fit 2 players standing across each other and playing the game.

So, this week the programmers are going to work towards making those changes into the game world. Our artist is going to work on creating models of the minions. Our animator just got one of the minions, so he is going to start rigging and animating. The team, is also conducting a playtest this friday to get more feedback.
