2024 Student Handbook
Student handbook for the ETC class that started August 26 2024
Each year in January, immediately following our holiday break, the ETC embarks on what is known as our West Coast Trip (WCT). During this networking trip, ETC first-year students visit potential employers in the entertainment technology industry as well as meet ETC alumni in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. The WCT also includes a day at Disneyland, not only for enjoyment, but also to look at the park with the new perspective they have gained about making interactive experiences during their first semester.
The site visits start in the greater Los Angeles area on Monday morning, with students divided into tracks based upon which industry they hope to enter after graduation. These tracks include: games, storytelling, animation, and themed entertainment. The students visit two companies each day. They are able to visit established companies in the industry, both large and small, as well as start-ups to get a feel for the different work environments and cultures. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings of the week, we host alumni dinners which allow students to network with ETC alumni in the area to learn more about their post-graduate careers.
This year’s WCT had 37 unique site visits, many of which included ETC alumni participation. We would like to thank all of the companies who hosted us in 2020, and we would like to thank all of our amazing alumni who took time to join us at the alumni dinners and/or the visits. See you in 2021!
