Taking Tom’s Foam Off
What is not explained in this video is the additional step of removing the chicago screws that hold his mechanism in place to the foam or soft palate.
There are three on the top and three on the bottom. Sandwiched between the plates is a piece of black stretch material that keeps the audience from seeing inside his mouth and Tom’s mechanics.
Remove all of the hardware and extra fabric and keep handy for when you need to reassemble Tom. You can use the piece of fabric for a template if a new one needs to be made. The material should be a durable 4 way stretch fabric, or minimally 2 way and stretch the direction of the movement.
