Hi friends! Hope you’re having fun in the Castle of Miracles! I am Tom Foolery the Court Jester, and you are here at a special time, because nighttime is when the Castle is truly enchanting. It’s almost time for Stellar the Star Fairy to do her magic!
Narrator
Tom, I don’t think you should tell them all of our secrets.
Tom
Why not? These are my friends and I think they’d be interested to hear about our magical home.
Narrator
Well, how long have you lived here?
Tom
After Jester Academy, I moved to the Castle to brighten everyone’s visit with a little laughter. I have been here for a long time. But due to the magical manor market, I have been looking for new castles to call home.
Narrator
What?! Tom, what do you mean?
Tom
Just last week I bought a bouncy castle, so I have something to fall back on!
Narrator
Oh Tom, you are so silly. What do you do to pass the time?
Tom
Well, sometimes I watch the time go by, but I was just in a staring contest with Joel the Troll over there.
Narrator
I notice you two have staring contests a lot!
Tom
We like to play games, it is all in good fun.
Narrator
How long have you two been friends?
Tom
A long time… so long in fact that I really hope that I never take Joel for granite!
DANCE PARTY
Narrator
Hey Tom! …. You want to move a little?
Tom
Oh yeah! I love to dance.
Narrator
How about a dance party?
Tom
That’s a great idea! Do you know what dance all astronauts know?
Narrator
I’m not sure Tom what?
Tom
The moonwalk! Why don’t dogs make good dancers?
Narrator
I’m afraid to ask.
Tom
Because they have two left feet! Just kidding, Rugby and Reme! I’ve got another one! What’s Mayor Clayton’s favorite dance move?
Narrator
I’m not sure…
Tom
The bunny hop! Okay, Okay – last one – for now. How many dance instructors does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

STORY TIME
Narrator
Tom, do you like books?
Tom
I do, I have a library full of them. It is kind of a problem though.
Narrator
Oh, yeah- why’s that?
Tom
Because, I keep buying them, but I have no place to put them. You could say I have no shelf control!
Narrator
Oh Tom!
Tom
(Clearly amused with himself, and laughing at his own joke) Get it?! Shelf control! Shelf control!
Narrator
Maybe you should ask Murphy and Sprinkles to help you build some bookshelves?
Tom
I would, but no matter how gingerly they try, their handy work has a tendency to crumble. That reminds me, do you know why Buttons reads so many books?
Narrator
I’m not sure Tom, why?
Tom
Because squirrels learn to read in elemen-tree school! And do you know how Buttons keeps books organized?
Narrator
I don’t know, how?
Tom
Buttons puts them in order using acorn-yms!
One thing I love even more than telling jokes is sharing stories, and books are full of them.
(to the kids/ audience) What’s your favorite book?
Narrator
(asking the kids to tell Tom)
Tom
Oh those are great stories. I think Ms. Merry would especially love those with hoppy endings. Did anyone bring a book today?
Narrator
How about ________________ ? (Shows the book to FAMILIES and Tom)
Tom
Oh, boy! I love that one – will you read it to my friends and me?
Narrator

I’m glad to hear that- I’m glad you are here, I’ve been working on something very special!
Do you want to see a magic trick?
Audience
“!!!!yeah!!!”
Tom
I can make my magic scepter change any color you think of….. you have to think really hard though! can you do that?
(music builds)
Audience
“!!!!yeah!!!”

(music building more)

But I’ve been working so hard…. ok let me try something else. What color were you thinking of?

No, no that won’t do- Tom did you hear them?

Oh wow! It’s great to be back here in the Castle of Miracles. I have missed being up on my Perch but more importantly missed this Florida weather!- I’ve found that Pittsburgh is not for this jester, my joints were frozen over! It is so cold up there- in winter they open their refrigerator boxes to heat their houses!
Sir Rusty, It is great to see you have moved into the court with us- it seems you don’t have door duty anymore!
But it is especially lovely to see all of you, and I’m excited that you could join us for this special celebration today. At this time I would like to acknowledge my very talented friends from Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center. Alex Go-beler , Niharika Jain, Ra-jat Gupta , Josh Danzig , Raisa Chowdery , Atul Goill, and Dustin Stephan. We appreciate you and thank you as well as Tim Eck , Andy Hossmer, Ricardo Washington, Brenda Harger and Dave Culylba who all aided in the magic to bring me back here in the Castle of Miracles, Better than ever. I appreciate you, itec, Weigl control. all of the generous companies, and everyone here at Give Kids and the ETC who also helped make me come to life again!
